Information about the booking round Fall 2021

We recieve many questions about the next cooming booking round. Below you can find answers of the most common questions. 

The invitations will be sent out  the 22nd of June 2021  within our office hours ( roughly between 9am- 4pm CET). Unfortunately, we can not give an exact time. 

NB. if you are a student from other Universities than The University of Copenhagen
You may have read on our website that we send out invitations on 22nd of June 2021. This is true for members of those KU faculties and institutions that co-founded and finance the KU Housing Foundation. As you are a member of another faculty or institution, you would usually not be eligible for our services. We have decided to still invite you, but simply a day after eligible staff and students have received their invitation. The invitations will be sent out by email during the day of the booking round. The email will contain a link and login details to our booking system. 

Remember always to check your spam filter and to check the email account you have applied with. If you are not sure which one you have applied with we recommend to check all your accounts and the spam filters. 

No, there are no special rules due to Covid-19. Please refer to the booking manual for rules regarding cancellations and bookings. 

Preapare yourself carefully by 

1. Reading the booking Manual to understand our rules and procedures. 
2. Familiarize yourself with our website and housing options
3. On the day of the booking round check your spam filter often. 

 

Our system works on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, we can never guarantee any specific accomodations. If you do not see the desired accomodation in the system, then it is already booked. We recommend that you go into the booking system some days after the booking round, since some tenants make cancellations or new rooms might appear 

This year we have chosen not to rent about shared rooms (A+B) rooms due to Covid-19 concerns.  If you want to live with a friend or partner you can book a 2-persons room. Please have in mind that it is mandatory to make the household application if you book a 2-persons room.  You can read more here

It is your own responsibility to book a room. We cannot do it for you. If you have a trusted friend or family member you can arrange that they book on your behalf and login to  your email account and book in your name. 

Remember you will still have to sign the rental contracts yourself and upload them within the deadline. You can read more about that in the booking manual.

When making your booking you will be required to pay 8.000 DKK for deposit and 3 months of rent. Please have in mind that if you book a social housing dorm( Øresundskollegiet, Tietgen kollegiet and Signalhuset kollegiet)  you will also pay Administration and handling fee + service fee. If you have made a booking with an immediate start date, you must contact us the same day and explicitly inform us that you wish to cancel the booking.

When you make a booking that starts in more than 14-days, you have a ‘cooling off’ period (of 14-days) where you can terminate your booking.

If the booking starts within 14-days, the cooling off period lasts until the rental period begins.

It is not possible to cancel your booking after the rental period has begun, even if you have not moved in yet. 

Students who wish to cancel their booking can instead make a shortening offer, however there is no guarantee that it will be accepted. You can read more about shortening offers in our booking manual under ‘Making a shortening offer’.

Staff members who wish to shorten their contracts can do so if they give the proper notice of 3 months + the running calendar month. You can read more about shortening your contract in the booking manual under ‘shortening’. 

It is only possible to pick up your keys during our office hours – or the office hours of your dormitory if you have to pick up your keys directly at the residence. You can see where you have to pick up your keys here. 

If your rental start date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday, or a a holiday, the earliest day you can pick up your keys will be the following work day.

The Covid-19 regulations regarding travels are regularly changing, and often depend on where you are travelling from. We therefore ask that you refer to the Danish Health Authorities and Government’s webpages for direct information regarding your situation.

We always recommend our tenants to take out insurance before their stay abroad, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is our experience that insurance has been helpful for previous tenants.

If you have made an immediate booking you have to sign and upload the contracts the same day you make the booking. 

Otherwise you have 3 days to sign and upload the contracts.

If you have made an immediate booking you have to complete the first payment installment the same day you make the booking.

If your booking begins in less than 14-days, you have to complete the first payment installment before the contract start date. 

If your booking begins in more than 14-days, you have 14-days to complete the first payment installment. 

Please note that you cannot pick up your keys before your contracts have been approved, and you have paid the deposit and first 3-months’ rent.

In paragraph 11 of the rental contract, it is stated that you must register your address with the municipality and apply for CPR within 5 days of your contract starting:

However, since many tenants arrive in Copenhagen weeks after the contracts begin, it is fine to wait until you move in to register your address. You can find more information here.
