About the dorm
Diakonissen is located in leafy Frederiksberg, one of Copenhagen’s most popular neighbourhoods due to its central location and great variety of parks, cafés and shops. This puts both KU’s Frederiksberg Campus and CBS in easy walking distance. The large park Frederiksberg Have is only minutes away, making it easy to step out for a quick jog, walk, or just a nap in the sun. The dorm is part of an old teaching hospital, which trains more than 1400 students in health care. This means the historic building is beautiful but can also be somewhat utilitarian and old-fashioned on the inside, with smaller rooms. However, this is also expressed in a comparatively low rent, which in combination with the fantastic location should make this a great place to live despite the older facilities.
About the area
The dorm is located in Frederiksberg, one of the most desirable and central neighbourhoods in Copenhagen, filled with shops, cafés, pubs, and parks—even Copenhagen’s zoo. The large park Frederiksberg Have is only minutes away. Access to the city center is quick and easy, with many public transport options very close by. For nightlife, nearby Nørrebro, with all its live restaurants and music bars, can be reached on foot, bike, or public transport.
Things to do
In Frederiksberg, shops, cafés, and pubs are abundant and there are several libraries, music venues and museums. The large park Frederiksberg Have is right around the corner and extends into Søndermarken Park, making it easy for runners and walkers to stretch their legs. Frederiksberg Have also contains Copenhagen’s zoo and often the elephants can even be seen from the regular park.
For nightlife, the nearby Nørrebro area is perhaps the most popular quarter for going out in Copenhagen. There are lots of places to eat, drink, dance and experience live music. But there is also much to see, for example the famous graveyard Assistenskirkegården, where celebrities and musicians are traditionally buried and the locals go for walks.
Accessing the building
To get into Diakonisse, enter from the driveway on Peter Bangs Vej to get on the carpark. The entrance, Entrance 8, is on the right corner of the building. Once inside, please take the stairs up one level for the 2nd floor, or two levels up for the 3rd floor. The entrance to your residence is on the left.
